The Location

After extensive consultation with various organisations, especially the John Muir Trust, The Mountaineering Council of Scotland and Scottish Natural Heritage, a location for the sculpture has been agreed which in principle satisfies all parties.

The proposed location for the sculpture is on JMT Sconser estate land. The Sculpture will be placed on a natural mound which lies just beyond the entrance gate to the Coruisk path, and to the left of the old bridge at Sligachan.

There are at least 2 unsightly hydro poles near this spot which have stood for many years, and there has been much enthusiasm, not only towards the idea of the sculpture, but also to the fact that these will be removed as part of the overall project.

Within the Sculpture group and group of advisors, there is wealth of landscaping expertise. With their input, much thought will be given to enhancing, and sensitively maintaining, a natural unspoilt feel to the area surrounding the sculpture.

The gate and entrance to the Coruisk path will form part of the overall design consideration, and a path will run from the gate to the sculpture and back. The base of the Sculpture will be rock from the local quarry placed to look like a natural boulder stack.
